GOD’s FAVOUR

Hi,😊. Hope you are doing well. Welcome to a new topic on the blog🥁💃, titled, “God’s favour”

Favour according to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary means  “a thing that you do to help somebody. “Favour also means “approval or support for somebody/something“. Favour in our context spiritually means “God’s approval or support for somebody/ something“.

A wonderful testimony was shared in my Church about a man who faced financial difficulties but had a strong desire to travel to the United States. Despite his struggles, he managed to gather the necessary funds and went to the Embassy for a visa. Surprisingly, the interviewer asked him a simple question about his favorite football club. To avoid any conflict, he chose not to mention a club that the interviewer might not support and so he simply smiled without responding.

Astonishingly, his visa application was approved, and he was granted a longer stay than he had even requested. Prior to his application, he had heard about people being repeatedly denied visas. This man had no connections, yet the unmistakable presence of God’s favour was evident in his life. It was his first time applying for a U.S. visa, and not only was he granted one, but it was for a longer duration than he had anticipated. Undoubtedly, this man experienced the extraordinary favour of God. Favour of God means being approved by God, being blessed by God, and being accepted by God.

In the Bible, Noah is an example of a person who found favour in the eyes of God. When faced with the catastrophic flood, Noah and his household were saved from perishing because of God’s favour upon him. God specifically instructed Noah to build an ark, not only for himself and his family but also for a remnant of all living creatures.Through Noah’s faithful obedience to God’s command, he and his loved ones were protected and preserved from the devastating flood. It is important to note that the Bible records in Genesis 6:8, that Noah was a righteous and obedient man who maintained a blameless relationship with God. It was through these qualities that Noah found favour in God’s eyes.

Furthermore, the favour of God is inseparable from His presence. When a man is favoured by God, he will consistently experience prosperity in all his endeavors, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in. In the Bible, other persons who enjoyed God’s favour are Esther and Joseph. The Bible records in Esther 2:15b “And Esther won favour of everyone who saw her”. Esther trusted God and she enjoyed God’s favour.

Further to the above, Joseph also enjoyed God’s favour, despite being a slave in Potiphar’s house, Joseph brought prosperity to the entire household because of God’s favour upon him as seen in Genesis 39:4. It was through Joseph’s presence that God’s favour flowed, causing blessings and success to abound in Potiphar’s house. Joseph experienced the favour of God because he feared God and carried the presence of God with him wherever he went.

As I conclude this post, my heartfelt prayer for all the readers is inspired by Psalms 90:17 which states: “May the favour of the Lord our God rests on us; establish the works of our hands for us”
